SUMMARY
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient flow of products from the warehouse to customers, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining communication between various internal departments, shipping carriers, and customers. This role involves managing shipping schedules, resolving shipping issues, and ensuring that all shipments are compliant with regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes outgoing small parcel shipments utilizing a Warehouse Management System (Manhattan), Endicia Postage Suite, FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip and other small parcel carrier programs.
Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
Identify and sort small parcel shipping labels by carrier
Responsible for identifying Hazardous packages that require additional handling/processing.
Ensures proper shipping documentation is prepared for Hazcomm shipments
Load trucks as required
BOL creation
Attach shipping labels to the packed cartons as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Forklift or warehouse equipment certification is preferred. If not certified willingness to learn is preferred.
Previous Hazcomm training preferred
Management of freight shipment and BOL
Experience in small parcel carrier scheduling with use of TRS
6 months – 1 year of experience in a shipping role in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment strongly preferred.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Strong multi tasking skills while meeting daily deadlines
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate and follow instructions related to Safey Quality and Performance.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in using warehouse management software (WMS) Microsoft Office or equivalent systems. Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Excel is a must.
