Position Summary
The Receiver is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, and properly storing incoming shipments. This position ensures that received goods are accurately verified against purchase orders and shipping documentation, recorded in the appropriate systems, and stored in designated locations. The Receiver maintains accurate receiving and inventory records and works closely with Warehouse and Inventory Management teams to support efficient operations, accurate inventory levels, and timely product availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule delivery appointments for incoming shipments and coordinate with appropriate internal departments as needed.
- Review receiving documents and compare incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs), and other applicable records to verify accuracy.
- Audit receiving documentation, purchase orders (POs), and ASNs to ensure all receipts are accurately documented and processed.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage, shortages, overages, or other discrepancies and document findings appropriately.
- Communicate and work with internal departments to investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies or other issues related to incoming shipments.
- Assist with inventory management activities, including physical inventory counts, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and other inventory-related tasks as assigned.
- Unload goods from delivery trucks or containers as needed, following all applicable safety procedures.
- Operate forklift equipment to safely move, locate, and store products within designated warehouse areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and storage area while following all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Previous receiving or warehouse experience strongly preferred.
- Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) preferred.
- Forklift certification or previous experience operating forklift equipment strongly preferred.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, drivers, and other internal or external contacts.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions related to safety, quality, and performance.
- Ability to communicate receiving discrepancies, inventory concerns, and other operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to read and interpret basic charts, graphs, and inventory-related information.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but generally straightforward written or oral instructions.
- Ability to identify and address routine receiving or inventory discrepancies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to regularly lift and /or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand and regularly required to walk and to handle objects or tools. Employees are required to talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
