About the Role:
Join a fast-growing team at J Skinner Baking, where tradition meets innovation. As National Account Manager, you’ll lead strategic initiatives to grow top-line sales across our diverse bakery portfolio—including danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and bars.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Driving growth within existing accounts and identifying new customer opportunities
- Developing and executing market/ channel strategies that support profitable distribution
- Negotiating contracts and cultivating long-term customer relationships
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Procurement, Commercial Planning, Operations, R&D/Quality, and Category Insights

- Strong contract manufacturing and / or foodservice market knowledge and technical expertise
- Proven success in account management and margin generation

This role will report to the Senior Director Sales, Retail & Club.
This is a full-time role (Remote) with company benefits. Travel is up to 50%.
What You’ll Do – National Account Manager at J Skinner Baking
As a dynamic thought leader within our Retail Sales team, you’ll drive strategic growth across both branded and private label bakery offerings. This role blends commercial strategy, customer development, and cross-functional execution to deliver top-line results and market leadership.
Strategic Growth & Go-to-Market Execution
- Develop and implement retail go-to-market strategies that accelerate revenue and volume growth
- Architect and nurture a robust new business pipeline in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Lead opportunities from concept through rollout, ensuring commercial success
- Build joint business planning models with customers, grounded in data and experience
Customer Development & Relationship Management
- Cultivate top-level relationships across major accounts to optimize J Skinner’s market positioning
- Proactively develop annual business plans tailored to key customers
- Negotiate terms, manage broker and distribution partners, and oversee customer portal processes (Trace One, GDSN, etc.)
Data-Driven Selling & Forecasting
- Leverage syndicated and customer-specific data to build fact-based selling stories
- Deliver key business metrics including revenue, volume, share, and EBITDA
- Provide monthly forecasting direction to Demand Planning for flawless OTIF execution
- Utilize BI tools—sales reporting, forecasting, customer insights—to inform strategic planning
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, NPD, Demand Planning, and Operations to optimize sales flow
- Drive execution across assortment, pricing, merchandising, and innovation
- Stay ahead of market trends, pricing dynamics, and commercial risks
- Maintain deep understanding of product functionality to support customer needs
About You:
- Experience developing, planning and leading strategic customer initiatives.
- Experience calling on Retail & Grocery Customers.
- College degree required.
- Excellent data analytical and organizational skills, ability to create insightful presentations and business cases to drive results.
- Ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete, manageable components and think through optimal solutions.
- Self-starter mentality with a high degree of follow-through; can own and take strategic initiatives to completion.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in the consumer products industry is highly preferred.
- Someone who gets things done, is innovative, and works with a sense of urgency.
- Someone who has high standards, takes ownership, and is invested in the outcome.
- Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor.
- Experience calling on mass and retail customers is a requirement.
