Job Summary
The Ivy School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide continuity of instruction and support to our students during the absence of the regular classroom teacher in a multi aged 7th and 8th grade classroom. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Instructional Delivery:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in accordance with the curriculum and lesson plans provided by the absent teacher.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student learning and well-being.
2. Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a structured and orderly classroom conducive to learning.
- Enforce classroom rules and expectations consistently and fairly.
- Address behavioral issues and conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner.
3. Assessment and Feedback:
- Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely feedback to students and communicate their performance to parents or guardians as needed.
4. Curriculum Adherence:
- Follow the curriculum guidelines, pacing, and objectives outlined by the school.
- Modify lessons and materials as necessary to accommodate student needs.
5. Communication:
- Maintain open and regular communication with the school administration, parents, and colleagues.
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related events as required.
6. Professional Development:
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on educational trends and practices.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff members to share knowledge and best practices.
7. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other relevant student information.
- Submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- Montessori Certification (Preferred)
- Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure or Charter Registered
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Classroom management and behavior management skills.
- Adaptability and the ability to work independently.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Duration:
This is a long-term substitute teaching position with an expected duration of 8 weeks after January 1st, as determined by the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
