Vacation Rental Manager – The Islander Resort

Destin, Florida | Full-Time | On-Site | $80,000 annually

The Islander is a 127-unit beachfront condominium resort in Destin, Florida with a substantial in-house short-term rental management program. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Vacation Rental Manager to lead our in-house rental operation.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the rental program, including reservations, revenue and rate management, owner and guest relations, front desk operations, housekeeping and unit readiness, rental-unit maintenance coordination, staff supervision, vendor coordination, budgeting, financial performance, and operational reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of The Islander’s in-house vacation rental program

• Oversee reservations, inventory, rates, availability and revenue performance

• Maintain accurate reservation and owner information in Escapia

• Manage guest service and front desk operations and ensure issues are resolved promptly

• Build strong relationships with participating rental owners and ensure compliance with rental-management agreements

• Oversee housekeeping, inspections and unit readiness

• Coordinate maintenance and repairs within participating rental units

• Recruit, schedule, train, coach and evaluate Rental Department employees

• Monitor department expenses, revenue and operating performance

• Manage vacation-rental vendors and service providers

• Provide regular operational and financial reporting to Association leadership

• Coordinate closely with the Association CAM while maintaining a clear separation between rental-management and Association responsibilities

Qualifications

• Prior vacation-rental, resort, hospitality or property-management leadership experience

• Experience supervising employees and managing day-to-day operations

• Strong understanding of short-term rental reservations, rates, revenue and guest service

• Working knowledge of property-management/reservation software

• Escapia experience strongly preferred

• Experience with major vacation-rental channels such as Vrbo and Airbnb preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational, problem-solving and financial-management skills

• Ability to work on-site in Destin and provide leadership during peak periods and operational emergencies

This position manages the Rental Management operation only and is separate from the Association’s CAM/property-management function.
