Mgr. Institute Communications & Engagement

The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc
Lake, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 4/23/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/23/2026

Objective:

The Manager, Institute Communications & Engagement is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and effective communication between The IIA Global and its 120 National Institutes. This role serves as a central connector—keeping Institutes informed, engaged, and aligned through thoughtful messaging delivered across multiple channels, including email, web resources, presentations, messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp), video, and emerging digital tools.

In addition to leading communication strategy and execution, this role may serve as a primary point of contact for a designated group of Institutes, supporting ongoing engagement, responding to inquiries, and strengthening relationships.

This role focuses on how information is communicated—not just what is communicated—translating complex topics into clear, actionable messages and ensuring Institutes understand priorities, resources, and opportunities. The Manager works closely with teams across IIA Global headquarters to develop communication strategies, design compelling materials, and continuously improve how Institutes receive and interact with information, including leveraging AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency, insight, and reach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications & Engagement

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Institute communications and engagement, including direct engagement with a portfolio of assigned Institutes, ensuring key messages are clear, consistent, and responsive to Institute needs.
  • Develop and manage a multi-channel communication approach, including email, Institute resource pages, presentations, short videos/recorded briefings, and messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp).
  • Proactively keep Institutes informed of available resources, timelines, priorities, and key initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with Institute leaders by ensuring timely follow-up, clarity, and consistent engagement.

Content Development & Design

  • Create and oversee the development of high-quality, visually compelling materials, including presentations, one-pagers, toolkits, guides, and briefing decks.
  • Apply strong design principles to ensure materials are professional, easy to understand, and aligned with IIA brand standards.
  • Translate technical, operational, and governance-related content into clear, relevant messaging for Institute leaders.
  • Explore and apply AI-supported tools (e.g., content drafting, summarization, translation support, design and data visualization tools) to improve speed, consistency, and quality.

Presentations & Meetings

  • Develop and deliver presentations for global and regional Institute meetings, including the Global Assembly and other leadership forums.
  • Support senior leaders with presentation materials, talking points, and visual storytelling.
  • Participate as a speaker or facilitator when appropriate, clearly explaining initiatives, processes, and available support.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize data from Institute Activity Reports, satisfaction surveys, engagement metrics, and ad hoc requests.
  • Use data analytics where appropriate to identify trends, recurring themes, and insights across data sources.
  • Turn data into clear insights and narratives that highlight opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Produce executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to different audiences.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with teams across IIA Global to ensure communications are accurate, aligned, and timely.
  • Gather feedback from Institutes on communication effectiveness and continuously refine approaches, formats, and tools.
  • Document and share best practices to help standardize and elevate Institute communications across the team.

Planning & Strategy

  • Support communication planning aligned with Institute Relations priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to content development and planning for Institute Relations activities, Global Assembly, and other key Institute events.

Communication and Presentation Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior leaders, committees, or large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics and tailor messaging to different audiences.
