The clinical coordinator position is a dynamic and exciting opportunity for a dental assistant who wants to provide leadership in our School-Based Health Centers. The clinical coordinator will assist with the smooth operation of the school-based practice by overseeing the schedule and ensuring we are current with infection control and the Institute's policies.
Requirements
- Oversees Dental Office Assistant’s job functions: chair-side assisting, sterilization, incoming/ outgoing lab cases, oversees optimal radiograph techniques and policies.
- Oversees all aspects of Sterilization.
- Trains new staff when hired, retrains staff with updates and policy changes.
- Manages and maintains all Logbooks for Sterilization and Infection Control.
- Oversees patients’ medical clearances with patients’ clinician.
- Develops weekly DOA schedule for clinical staffing.
- Oversees inventory control functions, performs general maintenance of operatory and laboratory equipment, calling for professional service/ repair technician when needed.
- Provides clinical dental office assisting.
- Trains qualified personnel for dental office assisting vacancies.
- Monitors and coach performance, conduct performance evaluations in collaboration with the Dental Director and Administrator.
- Performs daily review of clinical schedule for accuracy.
- Monitors monthly clinical schedules, adjusting as needed according to the feedback from Dental Director and Dental Administrator.
- Maintains clinical inventory and orders all clinical supplies.
- Manages Radiation Badges and monthly reporting.
- Develops and manages CQI Projects in conjunction with the rest of the dental team.
- Maintains compliance with Article 28 and Joint Commission.
- Required to work the front desk as needed and/or complete administrative tasks.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant.
- Supervisory experience.
- Performance management skills.
- Training experience.
- Demonstrated OSHA compliance knowledge.
- Demonstrated competence in 4-handed dentistry.
- Demonstrated inventory control knowledge.
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting preferred, family practice setting a plus.
- Knowledge of front desk duties.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
- Bi-lingual Spanish Preferred.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant.
- Current BCLS Certification.
- Current Infection Control Certification.
