Job Overview
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated STEM Teacher to join our junior high team ( grade). In this role, you will inspire the next generation of thinkers by teaching junior high-level math and science, while also serving as the champion for our school-wide STEM initiatives.
The ideal candidate has a passion for project-based learning, a strong background in integrated science and mathematics, and the leadership skills to coordinate engaging extracurricular STEM activities and events.
Key Responsibilities
1. Classroom Instruction (Math & Science)
- Develops and maintains effective daily and long-range instructional plans, and submits weekly lesson plans every Friday before leaving campus.
- Design and deliver engaging, rigorous, and inquiry-based math and science curricula tailored for junior high students.
- Integrate hands-on laboratory experiences, technology, and real-world problem-solving into daily lessons.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in a supportive, private school environment.
- Assess and track student progress, providing timely feedback and fostering a growth mindset.
2. STEM Coordination & Leadership
- Activity Coordination: Plan, organize, and oversee school-wide STEM events (e.g., Science/STEM Fairs, Maker Faires, robotics competitions, or engineering challenges).
- Curriculum Alignment: Collaboratively work with primary, elementary and middle school faculty to ensure a cohesive, vertically aligned STEM pathway.
- Resource Management: Manage STEM lab inventory, tech tools (e.g., 3D printers, coding kits, lab equipment), and budget allocations.
- Community Engagement: Build partnerships with local San Diego/La Mesa STEM organizations, guest speakers, or field trip venues to enrich student learning.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Education, or a related STEM field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification: Valid California Teaching Credential (Single Subject Math/Science) preferred or equivalent private school teaching experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of teaching experience at the middle/junior high school level preferred.
- Demonstrated experience organizing school events, clubs, or coordinating academic programs.
- Skills:
- Proficiency with educational technology (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, smartboards, STEM learning software).
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
- A deep commitment to the mission, values, and community culture of private education.
Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
