The Ingenuity Project is a long-standing, advanced math, science, and research program preparing and launching the next diverse generation of nationally competitive STEM leaders from Baltimore City Public Schools. 

The mission of The Ingenuity Project is to prepare and launch the next diverse generation of nationally competitive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) leaders from Baltimore City Public Schools.

Our vision is to educate and support a diverse cohort of Baltimore City students for seven years (grades 6-12) through an advanced, socially responsible STEM curriculum and leadership program that cultivates a passion for excellence, a deep sense of curiosity, and a strong desire to innovate and change systems for the greater good.

About the Position

The Office Assistant reports to the Operations Manager and assists the Admissions Manager and other key staff in managing the day-to-day operations of the office. This position is a part-time, regular position with approximately 24 hours per week (typically during the school day).

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certificates in office administration a plus
  • At least 1 year of experience in an administrative, clerical, or customer service role
  • Experience in a school, nonprofit, or community-based setting is helpful but not required


What You’ll Do

  • Front Desk & Communication: Greet and direct students and visitors, answer incoming phone calls, check voicemail, and ensure messages are recorded and delivered accurately and promptly.
  • Supplies & Inventory Management: Track inventory levels and coordinate the ordering of office and school supplies to maintain a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Mail Handling & Distribution: Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail; support preparation and processing of outgoing mail, including bulk and family mailings.
  •  Admissions Support: Assist with preparing and distributing Admissions materials and supporting the Admissions Manager in communication with families of applicants.
  • Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day support to office staff, including copying, filing, organizing materials, and supporting special projects as needed.
  • Email & Information Management: Monitor the office email inbox, respond to routine inquiries, and route messages to the appropriate staff member.

Additional Notes

This role will be in person with occasional travel to off-site meetings and visits to schools within the district. Travel beyond one location in a day is reimbursed. 

Hourly Rate

$20-$25 per hour (commensurate with experience)
