Join a dynamic educational team as a NYS Certified Teacher (PreK–8) in our Kindergarten Transition Classroom at The Indy Lab!

The Indy Lab is a progressive early childhood and elementary learning environment focused on language development, STEM, and whole-child education. We are building a dynamic program that blends Playful Learning with strong academic foundations to support confident, curious learners via our Indy Lab Method™.

This vital role is designed to support young children as they transition into kindergarten, fostering their social, emotional, and academic development. You will create a nurturing, engaging learning environment that promotes early childhood education principles and supports diverse student needs.

Your expertise will help lay a strong foundation for future learning success while collaborating with families, staff, and community partners to ensure each child's growth and well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners’ lives through innovative teaching and dedicated mentorship.

Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, focusing on literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and physical development.
  • Implement a structured literacy approach using Heggerty and Fundations (training provided)
  • Support early math development using Reveal Math (training provided)
  • Create a welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration, independence, and positive behavior management with ongoing creative interest areas, regular rotations and addition of materials and explores interests of children.
  • Use evidence-based teaching strategies to support children with diverse needs, including those with autism and other developmental differences.
  • Collaborate closely with families to facilitate smooth transitions into kindergarten through regular communication and family engagement activities.
  • Incorporate learning library services into daily instruction to enhance literacy education and cognitive skills.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and tailor instructional approaches accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student development, behavior management strategies, and instructional activities for compliance and reporting purposes including report cards, letters of justification for ongoing services or our mini-IEP called the Educational Plan.

Skills

  • Proven experience in classroom management and lesson planning within early childhood or elementary settings.
  • Strong understanding of childhood development principles and best practices in working with young children.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in literacy education resources, and math instructional strategies.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for students with special needs or those requiring early intervention services.
  • Experience with standardized testing procedures, tutoring techniques, and behavior management strategies.
  • Knowledge of library services integration to support literacy initiatives and independent learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with neurodiversities in inclusive settings.
  • Familiarity with private school environments is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills for documentation, reports, and parent communications.

Pay: $54,518.64 - $65,656.85 per year
