Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th/6th Grade Math Teacher to join our team of educators. The 5th/6th Grade Math Teacher will be responsible for inspiring students to develop strong mathematical thinking skills, build confidence in problem-solving, and cultivate a deep understanding of foundational math concepts and principles. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of mathematics in middle school students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging math curriculum for 5th and 6th grade students, covering topics such as number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, ratios, geometry, algebraic thinking, and data analysis.
  • Plan and deliver hands-on, student-centered lessons that encourage students to explore mathematical concepts, apply problem-solving strategies, and make connections between mathematics and real-world situations.
  • Integrate technology, manipulatives, and interactive learning resources to enhance instruction and provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage with mathematical concepts.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to ask questions, think critically, collaborate with peers, and actively participate in mathematical discussions.
  • Guide students in developing mathematical reasoning and process skills, including computation, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and analytical reasoning.
  • Incorporate interdisciplinary connections and cross-curricular activities to promote a holistic understanding of mathematics and its applications in everyday life.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and promote interdisciplinary connections within the school community.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, upcoming projects, and opportunities for involvement in their child’s math education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Required).
  • Teaching certification/license in Elementary Education or Mathematics (Preferred).
  • Prior experience teaching math at the upper elementary or middle school level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics concepts, instructional strategies, and age-appropriate learning practices.
  • Enthusiasm for mathematics education and a genuine passion for inspiring students’ confidence and interest in math.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in mathematical learning.
  • Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and instructional delivery.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of mathematics education.
