Role Description This full-time, on-site Heating Air Conditioning Technician role is based at The Hun School of Princeton in Princeton, NJ. The technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems across campus facilities, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for students, faculty, and staff. Day-to-day work includes diagnosing system issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and responding to service calls in a timely manner. The role also involves collaborating with other facilities team members, maintaining accurate service records, following safety and environmental regulations, and supporting energy conservation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong technical ability in troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC system issues
- Hands-on experience with plumbing systems as they relate to heating and cooling equipment
- Demonstrated skills in preventive maintenance for HVAC and related building systems
- Knowledge of electricity and electrical components used in heating and air conditioning systems
- EPA certification or eligibility to obtain appropriate environmental and refrigerant handling credentials
- Relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or technical school education in HVAC or a related field
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse school community
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- Prior experience in an educational, institutional, or commercial facilities environment is beneficial
