Client Services Lead – Veterinary Assistant

Humane Society Spay/Neuter & Vaccine Clinic | Columbia, SC

We are looking for an experienced veterinary professional to join our high-volume spay/neuter and vaccine clinic as a Client Services Lead. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing daily front desk operations, client flow, and customer service while also utilizing strong hands-on veterinary skills.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves working with both people and animals and has the veterinary knowledge and experience to confidently support our clients and medical team. You should be comfortable leading a busy front desk, training and supporting staff, handling client concerns, and keeping the clinic running efficiently—while also being proficient in skills such as vaccine administration, venipuncture, animal restraint, and basic patient care.

Veterinary experience is essential. Supervisory or team-lead experience is strongly preferred.

What You'll DoLead Client Services

  • Oversee daily front desk operations in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic
  • Lead, support, and help train Client Services Representatives
  • Ensure efficient client check-in and check-out
  • Manage patient and client flow throughout the day
  • Help ensure appointments, paperwork, medical records, and client communications are accurate and organized
  • Serve as a resource for staff when questions or issues arise
  • Handle client concerns professionally and work toward appropriate resolutions
  • Help maintain a positive, welcoming, and efficient client experience
  • Communicate clinic policies and procedures clearly and consistently
  • Identify workflow issues and take initiative to improve efficiency
  • Work closely with the medical team to keep the clinic running smoothly

Utilize Your Veterinary Skills

  • Administer vaccines safely and accurately
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples for testing
  • Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats
  • Assist with patient intake and basic patient care
  • Understand and communicate basic veterinary terminology and procedures
  • Review medical records and ensure appropriate information is documented
  • Answer routine client questions regarding vaccines, surgery preparation, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Assist the veterinary team with clinical duties as needed

Team Leadership

  • Set a positive example for the Client Services team
  • Help train new team members and reinforce established procedures
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to front desk staff
  • Help maintain accountability for attendance, professionalism, productivity, and customer service
  • Promote effective communication between Client Services and the medical team
  • Step in and assist wherever needed to keep the clinic moving

What We're Looking ForRequired

  • Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital, clinic, shelter, spay/neuter clinic, or similar veterinary setting
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and basic animal health
  • Experience administering vaccines
  • Proficiency with venipuncture
  • Strong dog and cat restraint and handling skills
  • Excellent client service and communication skills
  • Ability to confidently communicate veterinary information to clients
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and stay calm in a busy, high-volume environment
  • Dependable, professional, and able to take initiative
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Preferred

  • Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician, or similar clinical experience
  • Previous supervisory, management, or team-lead experience
  • Experience training or mentoring staff

You should be comfortable taking the lead, but also willing to jump in wherever you're needed.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM

Friday, Saturday & Sunday – OFF!

This is a fast-paced, high-volume clinic environment. Candidates must be reliable, punctual, and able to work the full Monday–Thursday schedule.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
