The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is looking for one Veterinary Assistant to join our Pet Fix Savannah team. This is a full-time position with a 4 day work week, PTO & group health insurance.
HSGS is a private, non-profit, no-kill animal welfare organization in Savannah, GA. Each year, HSGS finds homes for 2,500 animals and performs 7,000 spay/neuter surgeries at our clinic Pet Fix Savannah. Pet Fix Savannah is a low-cost, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter clinic based on the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance model.
Responsibilities
- Support the mission of the organization
- Provide information to pet owners about the benefits of spay/neuter
- Assist DVM in pre-surgical examinations
- Administer vaccines or anesthetics under supervision of DVM
- Prep and monitor patients during surgical procedures and recovery
- Wrap and sterilize surgical packs
- Provide clients with post-operative care instructions
- Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques
- Enjoy working with a team in a fast-paced environment
- Have strong communication skills and a great work ethic
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic, hardworking, self-motivated
- Full time - 4, 10 hour days
- Able to lift 50lbs
Work Authorization
- This position requires the ability to pass a drug screen before hiring.
