Staff Accountant

The HT Group has a nonprofit client in Austin, TX, looking for a Staff Accountant who is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative to support month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the organization.

Location: Austin, TX - Hybrid In Office/Work From Home 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaids, accruals, deferred revenue, and other key accounts
• Support month-end and year-end close processes through journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Reconcile revenue and financial activity between accounting records and operational systems
• Partner with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions to validate the completeness and accuracy of financial transactions
• Maintain fixed asset records and support depreciation tracking
• Assist with audit preparation by compiling schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
• Document accounting procedures and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
• Provide cross-functional support and backup across accounting operations as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
• 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
• Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software proficiency
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
