What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse-RN FC position at The House of The Good Shepherd?
Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: To provide nursing services within the scope of licensure granted by the State of New York in accordance with agency-established job description and policy and procedures.
Principal Assigned Responsibilities:
1. Performs admission assessments on new clients with annual and “as needed” updates.
2. Performs quarterly and “as needed” updates on children’s’ heights/weights/blood pressures.
3. Attends resident progress conferences as required.
4. Participates in medication-related functions which may include, but are not limited to, ordering, checking, logging in, distributing, and administering medications.
5. Assists HGS physicians (psychiatrist/pediatrician/nurse practitioner) with evaluation of children and follows-up on any orders resulting from such evaluations.
6. Participates in scheduling children’s; health-related appointments upon admission, annually, and “as needed”.
7. Documents appropriate information in clinical records.
8. Carriers out and follows-up on physicians’ orders.
9. Participates in medication reviews with physicians and case conferences as needed.
10. Coordinates services with other HGS staff members and families.
11. Ensures presence of appropriate data and documentation in clinical records via chart reviews.
12. Participates in departmental and agency-wide QA/QI activities.
13. Maintains supplies and equipment in accordance with established policy and procedures.
14. Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
15. Assumes “on-call” responsibilities in accordance with established policy and procedures.
16. Performs employee health screenings.
17. Follows established agency policy and procedure regarding Infections Control.
18. Assumes relief of nursing supervisor duties when assigned.
19. Review, revise, and co-sign documentation assessments completed by Licensed Practical Nurses.
20. Other tasks as requested by supervisor(s).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Current New York State licensure/registration as a Professional Registered Nurse;
- Minimum 1-year general nursing experience; or
- Experience with children and/or emotionally disturbed individuals; or
- pediatric or mental health nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
