The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the sales department, generating revenue for the hotel, and achieving or exceeding planned revenue objectives related to occupancy and average daily rate (ADR). This role involves actively pursuing new business across all market segments for The Hotel Chalet's guest rooms, as well as its meeting and event spaces.
Reports to: Managing Director
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies.
- Create a marketing plan by analysing historical data and competitors.
- Identify and acquire accounts from competitors.
- Solicit new business and strengthen existing accounts through calls and visits.
- Maintain relationships with major accounts and associations for repeat business.
- Greet and qualify in-house guests regularly.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and departments to ensure effective selling strategies and enhance guest experiences.
- Analyze the competition’s strengths and weaknesses to guide marketing efforts
- Lead and develop the Sales and Events team
Qualifications & Requirements
- High ethical standards and strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work some weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field are required
- 5 years of experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality field, is required
- Proven track record of sales success in lead generation and closing skills
- Excellent leadership skills, analytical skills, and communication skills
Operational Duties
- Manage inquiries and respond promptly (within 24-48 hours).
- Meet revenue and market share targets set by management.
- Achieve weekly activity goals for prospecting and sales calls.
- Prepare and distribute contracts, rooming lists, and event orders.
- Coordinate meetings and events, ensuring smooth operations.
- Support established service standards and actively participate in team efforts.
- Maximize revenue from sales opportunities and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Some weekends and holidays may be required
