Schedule: Academic year, approximately 35 weeks per year, about 30 hours per week
Travel: Frequent local travel
Position Summary
The Director of Community Partnerships plays a key role in developing and managing relationships with our non-profit and School partners, ensuring regular communication and support to help collaboratively meet their volunteer needs, and working as part of a team to implement Hotchkiss student volunteerism.
The Director of Community Partnerships implements community partnership programs and events, utilizing student and Hotchkiss community volunteers to the extent possible. The Director of Community Partnerships collaborates with the Dean of Student Life and the Director of Student Activities and Student Clubs to ensure programs and events are aligned with the School's goals and are within a sustainable scope.
This part-time position averages about 30 hours per week and reports to the dean of student life. Transporting and accompanying Hotchkiss students in the community occurs primarily in the afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends. Planning and meeting with community partners, organizing program details, event promotion, and arranging associated logistics can be managed flexibly.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
In collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Dean of Student Life, and Director of Student Activities and Student Clubs:
- Develop, organize and supervise student service learning programs and activities.
- Partner with student clubs and organizations to develop Hotchkiss community engagement, encourage service activities, and collaboration.
- Mentor students, particularly those leading service-oriented organizations. Read more about current Community Service groups here.
- Develop, maintain, and nurture relationships with Hotchkiss students and School community members, local residents, local community partners, and non-profit organizations.
- Serve as the primary contact for non-profits and School partners engaging in community service, and identify needs that can be met by student volunteers.
- Evaluate new and existing partnerships for fit and impact; develop new partnerships aligned with the mission and goals of the Hotchkiss community service program.
- Develop a program that is sustainable given the resources available.
- Promote service events on and off campus, managing transportation and waivers.
- Oversee resource allocation to maximize community impact.
- Assess program effectiveness and ensure alignment with the School's goals.
- High School diploma required, or a combination of training and experience in community service. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficient with office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail, and online calendar management.
- Experience in program development, management, social services, and/or community service.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation, and communication skills.
- Must possess the disposition and awareness to work with a wide variety of people and positions to interact professionally as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Clean driving record, and eligible for Connecticut Public Service License. Obtain and maintain this driver’s license endorsement as soon as possible upon hire to enable student transportation.
- Office environment, repetitive motion (use of computer keyboard).
- Bend, stoop, reach, and kneel regularly.
- Ability to traverse indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, particularly at events and programs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs, move tables and chairs, hang signs, and other similar tasks for events.
