Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Director to oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure compliance with all local and state regulations. As a key leader in the company, you will work closely with the leadership team to improve efficiencies, manage finances, and maintain the overall functionality of the shop.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Manage, supervise, mentor and support, B2s, and B1s. Oversee shop operations and act as a keyholder responsible for opening and closing the store.
- Communication: Maintain high-level written and verbal communication with colleagues, customers, and outside partners. Utilize organizational tools such as Google Calendar, Slack, and email.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure the overall cleanliness and functionality of the shop, coordinate with vendors for facility maintenance, and manage supply orders. Provide support in areas such as returns, payment issues, and staff management.
- Compliance: Oversee all inspections from regulatory agencies (DCC, County, City, etc.) and ensure adherence to all compliance standards. Act as shop security on-site, requiring a BSIS CA Guard Card.
- Financial Management: Collaborate with the Bookkeeper to handle accounts payable, daily cash counts, banking, and cash handling procedures.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data, including voids, payment types, inventory reconciliation, and cart size, to develop strategies for improvement.
Weekly Responsibilities:
- Payroll Management: Collaborate with HR to manage payroll and timesheets.
- Leadership Meetings: Attend and contribute to leadership L10 meetings, inventory meetings, and weekly check-ins with the Chief Operations Officer.
- SOP Management: Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are accurate, up-to-date, and enforced. Work with the leadership team to refine and revise SOPs as needed.
- Training: Solicit, schedule, and facilitate in-house and brand staff training sessions.
As-Needed Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff. Conduct employee reviews and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work with the leadership team to develop operational policies and procedures and manage shop-specific projects.
- On-Call Schedule: Participate in the weekend on-call rotation.
- Industry Holiday Hours: Being a retail establishment we have several required working days, including but not limited to, 4/20, 7/10, the Wednesday before and the Thursday after Thanksgiving.
Location-Specific Responsibilities:
- WAMM Phytotherapies: Facilitate WAMM Phytotherapies’ Compassion Program and donation initiatives at specific shop locations. Manage donation reporting and communication with staff and partners.
- Sowing Seeds Program & Last Prisoner Project: Oversee donation collection and documentation for these community partnership programs.
Qualifications:
- 21 with valid driver's license.
- Experience in operations management, preferably in the cannabis or retail industry.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Ability to expertly and quickly problem solve issues as they arise.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulations in the cannabis industry.
- Experience with data analysis, financial management, and project oversight.
- Bilingual English & Spanish speaking is not required, but preferred.
Physical Expectations
- Expected physical aspects of shift
- Be able to be on your feet for 8 hours
- Ability to stoop or bend to grab low-level products
- Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs repeatedly
- Ability to often move around the sales floor and shop premises
