The Senior Sales Manager is a critical team member for driving profitable sales growth and market share at Target and The Honey Pot portfolio. This role supports the Senior Director of Target across aspects from strategy through execution. Key accountabilities include supporting the business plan development owning tracking and execution excellence to deliver results.
The Senior Sales Manager excels in synthesizing data and insights, exception based reporting, item maintenance and demand forecasting. With strong analytical financial acumen, the Senior Sales manager contributes to recommendations and decisions on distribution, pricing, promotion/trade spend, merchandising, forecasting and supply dynamics. Partnering closely with sales, sales capabilities, marketing, finance, operations and other cross-functional support teams this role owns reporting and flawless execution at Target.
5 Years sales experience with Target.
Must reside and established in Minneapolis/St.Paul area for close collaboration local insight with Target.
What You'll Do:
Account Management Business Development - 30% of time
- Build strong relationships with key retail partner functions, owning the relationship with replenishment XYZ
- Support annual business plan development and execution, delivering growth targets of share, net sales, trade, distribution promotional strategies
- Provide the fact base and initial build of compelling stories. Participate in annual planning, line reviews, buyer meetings business reviews as necessary
- Identify opportunities for negotiations to maximize joint value
- Lead retailer demand forecast with a high level of forecast accuracy
- Use financial acumen to influence recommendations on PL performance, trade investments and audits, owning the resolution of disputes
- Own item data set up, maintenance and management with a high level of quality for both instore and online assortment.
- Ensure flawless execution from new item set up to in-stock levels, having a bias for action to correct issues.
- Monitor business performance, taking action and driving escalation as necessary to hit goals
Sales Category Performance - 25% of time
- Under the leadership of the Senior Director, deliver share, trade rate and net sales objectives for assigned account.
- Analyze category trends, shopper behavior and competitive activity to deliver actionable insights which impact business results.
- Identify growth opportunities – instore and online - using consumer, category customer insights; translate findings into actionable sales plans.
- Build fact based and compelling slides, using syndicated and retailer-specific data sources, to influence decisions.
- Track performance vs KPIs and make recommendations on action plans to address gaps.
- Manage promotional planning and trade budgets, evaluating ROI on customer programs, optimizing programs to deliver the strongest results for investment
Cross-Functional Collaboration - 20% of time
- Collaborate with Marketing, Demand Planning, Order Management, eCommerce and Finance to ensure alignment and execution of customer and company strategies.
- Work closely with internal and external partners on the development and successful execution of display programs
- Partner with eCommerce team to ensure high quality digital assets meet retailer requirements and showcase Honey Pot products accurately
- Partner closely with Sales Capabilities on data analytics, reporting and best in class sales deliverables
Reporting Analysis - 25% of time
- Monitor category trends, POS, Unit Sales, In stock Levels, inventory metrics and key performance metrics for Target; identifying and actioning against risks or opportunities
- Track item performance and complete root cause analysis of business drivers when performance is not meeting expectations
- Complete post event analysis, identifying programs with the strongest ROI to influence future activities
- Provide internal leadership with insights, scorecards, and recommendations

What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field 5 years of CPG sales experience, preferably with Target
- Experience or working knowledge of Target systems, analytics and scorecards Strong relationship-building skills with retail partners
- Experience managing $15M in annual sales.
- Strong analytical skills; proficiency with Nielsen, Circana/IRI, and retailer POS systems.
- Excels at synthesizing data and giving actionable insights
- Experience developing impactful persuasive slides which influence decisions
- Exposure to business planning and execution of annual agreements including negotiations
- Financial acumen and ability to understand impacts to trade and account profitability.
- Expertise in demand forecasting and knowledge of supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of retail landscape, including buyer dynamics, merchandising promo expectations
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel within market as required, including tradeshows, events and company meetings
