What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Computer Tech Wanted, $30–$40/hr, Flexible 1099 Work (Nashville) position at The Honey Do Crew?
Hi, I'm Josh, owner of The Honey Do Crew. We help older adults in Nashville-area senior living communities with everyday technology problems.
I'm looking for one dependable technician who can take occasional appointments as an independent contractor.
What you'll do
Most appointments are simple, everyday tech support inside a resident's apartment. You might help someone:
- Get their Wi-Fi working again
- Set up a new phone or iPad
- Fix a printer
- Get back into their email
- Troubleshoot a Roku or smart TV
- Work through a password or account issue
- Help with a Windows PC or Mac
Every once in a while, a resident may also ask for help with something small, like changing batteries in a remote or replacing a light bulb.
You don't need to know the answer to every problem before you walk in. What matters is being able to troubleshoot, research something when needed, and work your way through the problem. Using Google, ChatGPT, or similar tools to help troubleshoot is completely fine.
Who you'll be helping
Most of our clients are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Patience is a big part of this job. You need to be comfortable slowing down, explaining things in plain English, and going over something again if needed.
Many of our clients are repeat customers, so being friendly, dependable, and someone they feel comfortable having in their home matters just as much as your technical skills.
Pay
Pay is $30 to $40 per hour, depending on experience.
Every accepted visit has a one-hour minimum.
If a visit takes 30 minutes, you're paid for one hour. If it takes 90 minutes, you're paid for 90 minutes.
Drive time and time between appointments are not paid.
Schedule
Right now, the work averages about one to two visits per week, and there may be some weeks with no appointments.
This is best for someone looking for extra income alongside another job, school, retirement, or other flexible work.
Most appointments are on weekdays between 9 AM and 4 PM.
There is no set weekly schedule and no on-call requirement. When I have an appointment available, I'll send you the details. You can accept it or pass.
I'm working to add more senior living communities, so there may be more appointments available as the business grows.
What I'm looking for
- Experience helping people with everyday technology
- Patience and good communication skills
- Weekday daytime availability
- Reliable transportation
- A smartphone and basic tools
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to pass a background check
CompTIA A , Google IT Support Certificate, or similar training is a plus, but it is not required if you have solid hands-on experience.
Before taking appointments on your own, you'll do a short paid ride-along with me so you can see how our visits work.
There is no sales or upselling involved. Your job is simply to help the resident with the problem they called us about.
This is 1099 independent contractor work. A W-9 and appropriate general liability coverage will be required before taking appointments independently.
Apply through Indeed with your resume.
