The Homestead is looking for caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teachers to join our team in South Burlington.
We are hiring for both toddler and preschool classrooms, so whether you love the energy and curiosity of toddlers or the creativity and growing independence of preschoolers, we have a place for you!
As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work alongside a Lead Teacher to create a warm, engaging environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn and explore.
What we’re looking for
- Someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children
- Experience working with young children preferred
- A patient, nurturing, and energetic personality
- Someone who is dependable, flexible, and works well as part of a team
- Someone who is willing to jump in, help wherever needed, and contribute to a positive classroom environment
- Completion of at least one 3-credit college course related to child development, or willingness to complete Vermont’s Fundamentals in Early Education workshops
What you’ll do
- Support the Lead Teacher with the daily care and education of children
- Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities, play, and learning experiences
- Help with daily routines, meals, toileting, and transitions
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Work collaboratively with a team dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education
