Boarding Specialist – For Reliable, Detail‑Oriented Applicants Only

This role is for dependable adults who take animal care seriously, follow instructions, and show up consistently. Our Boarding Specialists are responsible for the daily care, safety, and routines of dogs and cats staying with us. If you’re looking for an easy or seasonal job, or you just want to “play with dogs,” this is not the right position.

Responsibilities Animal Care & Safety

  • Feed pets according to individual instructions and administer medications accurately
  • Monitor dogs and cats for stress, discomfort, or changes in behavior
  • Supervise dog groups with full attention — no phones, no distractions
  • Follow all boarding routines: crate checks, feeding, treat distribution, potty logs, and safety protocols

Sanitation & Facility Care

  • Clean kennels, play areas, and common spaces every shift
  • Assist with morning and evening routines (opening/closing tasks)
  • Keep the facility organized and ready for the next shift — no shortcuts

Customer Service & Clerical Duties

  • Communicate professionally with pet owners about their pet’s status or special needs
  • Book reservations, check guests in/out, verify vaccines, and process payments/deposits
  • Maintain accurate records using our POS system (intermediate math skills required)

Teamwork & Communication

  • Communicate clearly with team members and follow written checklists
  • Work efficiently in a fast‑paced, physical environment
  • Stay proactive to prevent scuffles and maintain a calm, structured atmosphere

Requirements (Non‑Negotiable)

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality — frequent call‑outs or tardiness are not tolerated
  • Comfort working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols exactly as written
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and remain active throughout the shift
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience handling multiple animals simultaneously and working outdoors
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shifts; comfort working in all weather conditions
  • Prior doggie daycare experience is required. Rover does not count.

Who This Job Is Not For

  • People who call out frequently or show up late
  • Anyone who wants a “fun dog job” instead of real responsibility
  • High school students or college students home on break
  • People who can’t follow instructions or get bored easily
  • Anyone uncomfortable in a fast‑paced, physical environment

Who Thrives Here

  • Adults with strong work ethic
  • People who take animal safety seriously
  • Fast learners who follow procedures
  • Focused, proactive team players
  • Reliable individuals who show up every day ready to work
