About the Role
Non Profit Staff Accountant sought for The HistoryMakers. He/she will report directly to the President. The applicant must be proficient in Quickbooks and extremely well-organized. He/she must have 3-7 years of prior fund accounting and business management experience. This position must work full time out of The HistoryMakers' offices in Chicago's South Loop. Responsibilities
- Handle monthly bill payments, bank and credit card reconciliations using Quickbooks.
- Maintain excellent electronic and physical filing systems.
- Prepare and record daily deposits and expenses.
- Develop monthly and annual budgets as well as financial reports for the Board and other reports as needed.
- Monitor online contributions and donor acknowledgements are sent.
- Support a capital campaign with physical and electronic filing systems and timely correspondence and receipts.
- On-going front-office administrative tasks such as file maintenance, correspondence, mailings, greetings guests, problem-solving, etc.
- Other projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 2-5 years of fund and cost accounting experience.
- Prior non profit experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Excel(Vlook up and Pivot Tables) and Outlook.
- Knowledge of FileMaker Pro preferred.
- Strong and accurate typing speed and database entry.
- Prior experience supporting a capital campaign.

Pay range and compensation package
