Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager
Our client is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional who enjoys managing projects, developing client relationships, and leading technical teams while contributing to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, transportation, commercial, and land development projects.
Position Overview
The Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager will be responsible for managing geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through completion. This individual will serve as a technical leader, client liaison, and project manager, ensuring successful project delivery while supporting business development initiatives and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong, long-term relationships.
- Lead subsurface investigation programs and oversee field exploration activities.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, engineering analyses, and design recommendations.
- Provide technical expertise related to foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, earthwork, pavements, and groundwater conditions.
- Coordinate project activities with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
- Support proposal preparation, project pursuits, and business development efforts.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- 7-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, including project management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical investigations, analyses, and report preparation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with transportation, municipal, commercial, industrial, or land development projects.
- Established client relationships in the area and business development experience.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
