📍 Providence Area, RI

We're partnering with a respected nonprofit organization in the Providence area to identify an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys supporting a mission-driven organization while partnering closely with executive leadership.

The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage the audit process, and help strengthen financial processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the organization's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and monthly close

• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Lead the annual audit and coordinate with external auditors

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and applicable grant and regulatory requirements

• Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements

• Support leadership with financial analysis and strategic decision-making

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff

Qualifications:

✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

✔ 5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience

✔ Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred

✔ Experience with audits, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls

✔ Knowledge of grant accounting and restricted funds is a plus

✔ Strong ERP/accounting software proficiency

✔ Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
