We are seeking an Elementary Co-Teacher (ages 6–9) and an Elementary Co-Teacher (ages 9-12) to join our Montessori team. This individual will work alongside experienced guides to support students as they transition from early childhood into abstract learning. Position Overview
As a Co-Teacher in our 6–9yo classroom, you'll work collaboratively to create a dynamic Montessori environment that supports hands-on exploration and intellectual independence. You'll assist in guiding children through their academic and social development, preparing materials, and helping sustain the calm and curiosity that define our classrooms.
A background or interest in reading instruction and literacy development is especially valued for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a Montessori environment for students ages 6–9, grounded in respect and individualized learning.
- Collaborate with the lead guide to prepare, observe, and maintain the learning environment.
- Present or reinforce lessons in reading, writing, math, and cultural studies as guided.
- Nurture social-emotional growth through peaceful conflict resolution and connection.
- Observe students to understand their developmental needs and interests.
- Support outdoor learning, classroom organization, and student-led projects.
- Communicate thoughtfully and collaboratively with colleagues and families.
- Engage with and supervise students in outdoor learning environments, including the garden, trails, and outdoor classroom, requiring confident physical activity on varied terrain and weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in Montessori or similar settings preferred.
- Montessori certification or interest in pursuing Montessori training (training opportunities may be available with administrative approval).
