We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by providing necessary tools and equipment.
- Handle and restrain animals safely to ensure their comfort and safety during treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic, including surgical areas, exam rooms, and kennels.
- Prepare animals for surgery by following aseptic techniques and protocols.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, treatments, and medications administered.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures for their animals.
- Assist with kennel duties including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in animal handling with a strong understanding of animal anatomy and behavior.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is preferred; knowledge of equine care is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic veterinary procedures under supervision, including administering injections or medications.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling during examinations or treatments.
- Previous work as a Veterinary Technician or in a kennel environment is advantageous but not required.
