Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Sprinkler Foreman to perform service work on fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. This role involves inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and occasional installation tasks. The ideal candidate works independently, demonstrates strong technical knowledge, and maintains excellent communication with customers and office staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing
- Perform routine and comprehensive inspections and testing of all types of fire sprinkler systems (wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, and foam systems) in accordance with NFPA 25 and other regulatory requirements.
- Test fire pumps, backflow prevention devices, standpipes, and associated equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance.
Maintenance and Repair
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform necessary maintenance and repairs to system components, including replacing parts such as pressure gauges, sprinkler heads, valves, and piping.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards, local codes, and company safety policies.
Installation and Upgrades
- May assist with or perform new system installations or upgrades, ensuring all work adheres to engineering guidelines and fire codes.
Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately record payroll and document all inspections, maintenance, repairs, and deficiencies using handheld devices or computers.
- Generate detailed reports for clients and management, ensuring clarity and completeness.
Emergency Response
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide emergency troubleshooting and repair services for system malfunctions, including after-hours and weekends.
Customer Service
- Interact professionally with customers, explaining system issues and resolutions.
Safety and Compliance
- Work in compliance with the company's safety program and OSHA policies.
- Ensure systems are always ready for use, actively contributing to public safety.
Qualifications:
- Active membership in Local 669 with journeyman status.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler installation and service.
- Strong understanding of NFPA 13, 25, and applicable codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and service tickets.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.
Working Conditions:
- Field-based role with travel to customer sites.
- May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
- On-call rotation may be required.
