The part-time middle school after-school counselor will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment at The Hewitt School. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise middle school students enrolled in after-school from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm while school is in session
- Create a productive learning environment and assist students with their homework as needed
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with administration, teachers, parents, guardians, and caregivers about all aspects of after-school programming, including scheduling, special events, incidents, or accidents
- Dismiss students to authorized adults and keep an accurate record of the dismissal time and any changes
- Be responsible for attendance, dismissal, and program supervision
- Respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner and communicate with all parties involved in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-bias education and social justice
- Knowledge of and experience with supervising and managing students in middle school and acting as a positive role model
- Reliable and dependable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides)
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficient with Mac platforms; comfortable with technology or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Investment in the social-emotional learning and cognitive development of middle school students
SALARY RANGE
Starting Salary Range: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
