Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team and oversee all aspects of kitchen operations. This role is vital in ensuring exceptional food quality, safety standards, and efficient service delivery. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily kitchen activities, supervising staff, controlling inventory, and maintaining a high standard of food safety and customer satisfaction. The Heritage Home is an Intergenerational Senior Living Community and Childcare Facility. We serve 24 seniors three meals per day and roughly 50 children breakfast and lunch Monday thru Friday.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff on food safety standards, proper food handling, and efficient food production techniques.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen area.
- Lead staff scheduling, shift management, and team coordination to optimize productivity during busy hours.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support staff development initiatives.
- Manage food cost controls.
- Implement food safety management procedures and oversee food safety audits.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of food safety standards, food handling procedures, and kitchen management best practices.
- Strong understanding of inventory control and budgeting.
- Excellent managerial communication skills combined with leadership qualities to motivate teams effectively.
- Experience in managing hospitality teams in diverse settings such as casual dining or banquet environments is preferred.
- Basic math skills for inventory calculations and financial reporting are essential.
- A culinary background or hospitality management education is highly desirable to excel in this role.
