The Instructional Design Intern will support the creation of engaging learning experiences that help employees develop skills and achieve business goals. This role assists with designing digital learning content, organizing resources, and applying best practices in instructional design. It's an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate learning and development while contributing to projects that impact talent growth across the organization. Success in this role means delivering high-quality, learner-focused materials that align with our competencies and learning strategy.
Essential Functions
The Heritage Group Internship Program provides hands-on, paid experiences in a corporate function or within one of our many operating companies. Interns can expect to network with other students and professionals, gain useful skills, receive mentoring, and make their own contributions to the organization. Additionally, interns can participate in our weekly hosted events focused on professional development, team building, and community service.
Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $18/hour (Freshman) - $21/hour (Senior), etc.

Essential Functions
- Assist in designing and developing digital learning content (eLearning, guides, job aids)
- Support content reviews and quality checks for clarity and accuracy
- Organize and maintain learning resources in shared libraries
- Research best practices in instructional design and apply them to projects
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm creative learning solutions
- Help convert instructor-led training into digital formats
- Test learning modules for functionality and user experience
- Document processes and create simple how-to guides for learners
- Participate in team meetings and share ideas for improving learning experiences
- Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational standards
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
- Required High School or Equivalent
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree Current undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, or related field
- Strong interest in instructional design, learning technologies, or education
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to organize information clearly and communicate effectively
- Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn new tools and processes
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate in a virtual environment
- Creative thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Familiarity with eLearning tools (Articulate, Rise, or similar) is a plus but not required
- Prior coursework or projects related to instructional design or education preferred
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items and walk short distances.
