HJF is seeking a Clinical Lead to provide quality and documentation support, training support, and direct intervention delivery for a large-scale research study. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a targeted case management intervention for reducing suicide and other harmful behaviors among active-duty servicemembers recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric treatment.

This role supports the SAFEGUARD Pathfinding project, which evaluates a 6-month remote case management intervention combining elements of Coping Long Term with Active Suicide Program (CLASP) and Critical Time Intervention (CTI). Unlike a traditional supervisor, the Guide will spend more than half of their time directly delivering the intervention to participants while simultaneously providing on-call crisis support, clinical training, and quality assurance for the staff.

This position will be in support of Department of Psychiatry / Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress.

This is a full time remote position with work hours between 12pm-8pm ET schedule with flexibility required.

Note: The incumbent must have lived in the US for three out of the past five years due to security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Intervention Delivery (Primary Duty): Lead the delivery of the manualized, 6-month remote case management intervention to a full caseload of active-duty servicemembers.
  • Military Health System Documentation: Ensure all research interactions and activities are accurately documented within the Military Health System (MHS) electronic health record platforms, adhering to Department of War (DoW) standards for medical record-keeping and privacy.
  • Crisis Management & On-Call Support: Provide back-up on-call support for crisis activations and conduct suicide risk assessments as needed to ensure participant safety.
  • Documentation & Data Integrity: Ensure timely and accurate entry of clinical notes and study data into the required platforms, maintaining high standards for medical record-keeping.
  • Training & Quality Support: Assist in training staff and provide ongoing quality support to ensure all clinicians deliver the protocol with high fidelity.
  • Safety Reporting: Promptly report any emergent participant safety issues to both on-site clinical leadership and the research team leadership
  • Material Refinement: Assist in refining training materials and making updates to intervention content in coordination with team leadership.
  • Administrative Support: Assist in the hiring process for new study clinicians, including resume reviews and interviews.
  • Team Collaboration: Meet regularly with the research team to provide updates and receive consultation on intervention delivery.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology required, Doctoral Degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions in a virtual setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based psychoeducational interventions, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Interventions, Motivational Interviewing [MI], Suicide Safety Planning, Problem-Solving, mindfulness-based interventions, or related approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, identify and resolve problems, and deliver feedback.
  • Strong management/organizational and problem-solving skills to lead small teams of interventionists.
  • Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines.
  • Prior clinical experience with psychiatric inpatients or other high-risk populations (e.g., partial hospitalization patients) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with leading teams or providing supervision remotely strongly preferred. Prior military experience, prior experience working with military populations or within the military health system strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to be a team player, flexible-minded, willing to take the initiative, be assertive, and multi-task with different projects.
  • Ability to obtain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current, unrestricted, independent license as a clinician from a state in the U.S. highly preferred (e.g., including, but not limited to, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, LICSW, LP, HSP)

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an remote office setting.
  • This position likely has a duration of 18-24 months.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $93,100-$110,00. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
