HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I - Musculoskeletal Injury Research The incumbent will work with the EACE team at WAMC/FB to provide support for research projects focusing on musculoskeletal injury risk identification and treatment. The candidate will be required to actively engage in data collection, deliver study interventions aligned with standardized rehabilitation protocols and coordinate with healthcare clinics and providers to recruit potential research participants. The position requires practical knowledge of research methods and research experience. Additionally, the Clinical Research Coordinator will directly contribute to the creation of knowledge dissemination products (e.g., manuscripts) resulting from the research. The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative project oversight in order to maximize the effective use of project resources. Specific job duties include: overall research project coordination, study regulatory compliance, participant recruitment and retention, prospective and retrospective (e.g., electronic medical chart review) data collection, carrying out study interventions, and knowledge dissemination.

  • Provide study-related interventions.
  • Assists with data collection in adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP) baseline assessment measures.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assists with administrative logistics including consenting, data collection, and scheduling.
  • Maintains study participant files and documents all correspondence pertinent to the research study.
  • Leads regulatory documentation efforts.
  • Assists with generating study reports and prepares meeting minutes for monthly study meetings.
  • Communicates in a professional manner with the study team and attends team meetings.
  • Assists with the development of knowledge dissemination products.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required trainings for this role.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree in a related field (e.g. Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine) preferred.
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience required. Preferred at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Experience working in a military clinical setting and/or with military populations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of clinical research practices and principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, biomechanics, and anatomy.
  • Skill in creating and adjusting individualized exercise plans based on participant evaluations, with experience documenting progress to meet research goals.
  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
  • Ability to develop rapport with patients and clinic/hospital/research staff to develop confidence and cooperation. Well-developed clinical, analytical, and problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet timelines and deadlines.
  • Candidate must be fastidiously organized, very flexible, and able to work under limited supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and people skills are required.
  • Human subjects research experience. Experience conducting clinical research. Preferred experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate an active security clearance and current credentialing privileges at WAMC/FB.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to hike over rough terrain and lift/manipulate loads up to 50 pounds are required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • A Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians.
  • Preferred licensure in Athletic Training (LAT, ATC), exercise professional certification (CSCS, ACSM EP-C), or Tactical Strength & Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F)

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office/lab setting, but also routinely involves field/clinical settings.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $46,100 - $72,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
