Museum Presenter (part time)

We are seeking a Museum Presenter to deliver presentations and programs at Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. This includes presenting to the public and representing The Henry Ford in a positive manner while providing the highest level of customer service to all guests, fellow employees, and volunteers. Museum Presenters conduct presentations that inform, educate, and entertain based on guidelines and training set by The Henry Ford. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the successful operation of the Venue Operations Unit as a member of the Museum Programs work team.

Essential Responsibilities

• Delivers mission-based historical presentations that align with The Henry Ford’s focus on innovation and the training and skills provided by The Henry Ford.
• Presentations may require the demonstration of historical equipment and processes including machinery operation; use of electronic devices such as tablets; group and tour facilitation; and other activities as necessary.
• Ensures appropriate appearance and operation of the daily work site and performs related operational tasks such as maintenance, preparation, clean-up, and other duties as necessary.
• Provides hospitality and service to guests.
• Ensures the safety of guests and staff through appropriate knowledge and action.
• Helps protect artifacts, structures and landscapes from damage.
• Communicates regularly with department members and leaders about operational problems and experiences, and contributes to the review and evaluation of department programs.
• Participates in unit, department, and work team training sessions as required.
• Acts as a team player by working collaboratively with others, helping them to succeed, and providing expertise within the team and with other teams as appropriate.
• Continuously learns, synthesizes and delivers new content through self-preparation and memorization.
• Flexibly accommodates unexpected staffing needs of the day as outlined by the supervisor, including timed programming and filling in for co-workers while remaining punctual.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Your Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Weekdays and at least one weekend day availability required

• Acting or role-playing skills and good manual dexterity are helpful

Candidates must be able to pass the required training for Basic Presentation Skills. One of the current exhibits is a simulated pit crew and requires crouching and kneeling as part of the hands-on demonstration.
