Highlights: Summary: The Sleep Technician will work under the general supervision of the Manager, as well as the Lead Technologist. This individual will perform a wide variety of polysomnographic studies. The Technician will analyze data, score polysomnograms, and compile data into a report for physician review. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role. Education / Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. At least one prior year of direct contact patient care preferred. EEG, LPN, EMT, Respiratory Therapist, or previous sleep experience preferred. As required by the AASM standards enroll in the A-STEP online self study program within two weeks of hire and complete the program within the given AASM deadline. Prefer proficiency in the principles of polysomnography and electroencephalography. License / Certification: BLS required, ACLS preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Excellent interpersonal a communication skills and understanding and sensitivity for patient comfort and confidentiality. • Moderate computer literacy • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients. • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
