About the Role

Haymond Law Firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to manage a diverse plaintiff-side personal injury litigation caseload throughout Massachusetts.

The successful candidate will independently handle approximately 70-100 files spanning all phases of litigation, including pre-suit matters, active litigation, and trial-ready cases. This position requires a strong courtroom presence, exceptional case management skills, and extensive familiarity with Massachusetts court procedures.

The Associate Attorney will report directly to the Managing Attorney and will supervise litigation paralegals and support staff.

The Associate Attorney will have the opportunity to work remotely two days a week and work in the Hartford office three days a week.


What You'll Do

  • Manage plaintiff personal injury cases from intake through resolution
  • Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation strategy
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery
  • Attend court hearings and argue motions
  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
  • Prepare cases for trial
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel when appropriate
  • Work closely with experts, investigators, clients, and medical providers
  • Supervise and mentor litigation paralegals and support staff
  • Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts court rules, filing requirements, and litigation deadlines


Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active Massachusetts Bar admission and good standing
  • 1-4 years of Massachusetts litigation experience
  • Significant plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
  • Experience managing cases through all phases of litigation
  • First-chair trial experience
  • Strong deposition, motion practice, and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage a substantial caseload
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills


Important Requirement

Massachusetts Litigation Experience Is Mandatory

This position requires substantial, hands-on experience litigating cases in Massachusetts courts.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience navigating Massachusetts court procedures, rules, filing requirements, discovery obligations, and litigation deadlines.

Candidates without substantial Massachusetts litigation experience will not be considered.

This is not an entry-level attorney position and is not intended for candidates whose experience is primarily transactional, administrative, insurance defense support, or limited to jurisdictions outside Massachusetts.
