Job Summary
We are a growing, family-owned sushi restaurant looking to add a skilled Sushi Chef to our team. This role focuses on preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese dishes while maintaining strict standards for freshness, presentation, and food safety. You will play an important role in ensuring consistency in both food quality and daily kitchen operations.
Duties
- Prepare sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with accuracy and consistency
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, and other ingredients; restock as needed
- Follow all food handling regulations, health codes, and sanitation procedures
- Assist with basic prep work and support overall kitchen operations
- Work with the team to maintain efficient service during peak hours
- Stock and organize ingredients, supplies, and kitchen items as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef required
- Strong knife skills and ability to handle fish and ingredients safely and efficiently
- Basic knowledge of sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine
- Understanding of food safety standards and proper handling of raw seafood
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Reliable, consistent, and able to work as part of a team
- Must be 21 years of age or older
