Position Purpose
The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of clinical operations, ensures effective delivery of medical services, aligns clinical practices with organizational goals, and enhances patient outcomes through evidence-based care, performance management, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Lead day-to-day clinical operations across multiple sites, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Manage clinical budgets, optimize resource allocation, organizational design, and improve workflow efficiency.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, utilization, cost efficiency, and revenue cycle performance.
- Optimize patient flow, scheduling, and resource allocation to enhance access and reduce wait times.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to improve profitability and cost management.
Quality Assurance
- Define, implement, and monitor protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure top tier, evidence based patient care.
- Drive a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement across all service lines.
- Works with the Medical Director to monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and performance metrics; implement corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
- Lead quality assurance programs, participate in internal audits and development/closing of POAs.
Staff Management & Leadership
- Alongside the Medical Director, supervise, train, and evaluate/performance review clinical staff fostering a culture of accountability and professional development.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, and retention of clinical staff.
- Promote employee engagement, well-being, and a strong culture of accountability, inclusion, and collaboration.
- Ensures open channels of communication and recognition of performance.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the organization adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards including CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and occupational health standards.
- Maintain readiness for internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation reviews.
- Ensure proper documentation standards, coding accuracy, and data integrity.
- Address and escalate clinical risks and compliance issues in a timely manner.
- Attends, contributes and reports activity of area of responsibility at management and other meetings as requested.
- Compiles and delivers monthly reports. As requested, presents written reports and/or documentation to Medical Director and General Manager.
Financial Management & Cost Control
- Participate in the development of the annual budget in conjunction with the General Manager and Head of Finance.
- Analyze revenue and expenditure in accordance with budget predictions and work with the Clinic Management team to initiate appropriate remedial actions when deviations occur.
- Participate in “fee/price setting” activities annually an as and when required.
- Regularly undertake analysis to ensure that clinical procedures are “costed” correctly.
- Maintain sound management of all drugs & disposables, all equipment and registered assets through an inventory control system.
- Ensure that billing is accurate and that all items are invoiced.
- Ensure a preventive maintenance program is in place and that all equipment is regularly maintained.
- Sign off on all expenses in accordance with the regional GAPP policies.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set organizational goals, enhance patient outcomes, and innovate clinical programs.
- Identify opportunities for service expansion, new program development, and market growth within Alaska and surrounding regions.
- Support business development efforts, including client engagement, proposals, and service delivery model design.
- Align clinical services with organizational growth strategy and client needs
Stakeholder Collaboration & Client Engagement
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including corporate leadership, operations, and medical teams.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders such as clients, regulators, and community partners.
- Act as a key clinical representative in client meetings, supporting account management and service delivery excellence.
- Ensure alignment between clinical operations and client expectations, particularly in occupational health services.
Risk Management & Patient Safety
- Lead risk management initiatives, including incident reporting, root cause analysis, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure implementation of patient safety programs and adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through training, awareness, and continuous monitoring.
- Manage clinical escalations and critical incidents with appropriate governance and communication.
Requirements
- Education: A master’s degree in a clinical field (e.g. nursing), or healthcare administration, or a related field is typically preferred, alongside a valid license (e.g., RN).
- Experience: Leadership in outpatient (primary care or occupational medicine preferred) setting
- 10 years of clinical experience, including previous supervisory or managerial experience in a healthcare setting., preferably outpatient clinical setting in occupational medicine or primary care or (preferably) both.
Travel / Rotation Requirements
- Travel to multi-site clinics

- People management experience – over a significant period and with larger groups
- Track record of delivering change projects
- EMR proficiency
- Proven financial management skills
