The Haven is a non-profit, serving "At-Risk" Title-1 Schools since 2001. At HAVEN, we're here to connect with children, nurturing their emotional, mental, and social well-being. Group Leaders are people ready to build connections with each of their kids.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 2:00 pm -6 pm, Monday- Friday.
We follow the Springfield Public School Calendar.
Duties
- Lead and supervise a group of kindergarten and first-grade children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, including arts and crafts, sports, storytelling, and educational games
- Implement classroom management strategies to maintain an organized, positive environment conducive to learning and fun
- Demonstrate good character and serve as a role model
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff to communicate children’s progress and address individual needs or behavioral challenges
- Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing personalized attention when required
- Serve snack as outlined by the director.
- Follow directions and perform other duties as assigned by our directors.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with school-aged children in settings such as daycare, preschool, camp counseling, tutoring, or babysitting is highly desirable
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass both FCSR & fingerprint background screenings
- Must be available throughout the school year for weekday shifts from 2:00pm - 6:00pm.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain discipline positively and effectively
- Certification in first aid and CPR or willingness to obtain if not already certified
- Excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, and team members confidently
