SUMMER INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
The Hanover’s Internship Program provides college students with the opportunity to work on a variety of critical business assignments, test your skills, use your academic knowledge, and match your interests to a real job.
Through the 10-week summer program (June – mid August), You will:
As a Premium Audit Intern, you will support the audit team in verifying policyholder information to ensure accurate premium calculations. You’ll gain hands-on experience in reviewing financial records, analyzing payroll and sales data, and learning how audits impact underwriting and risk assessment in the insurance industry.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.

As a Premium Audit Intern, you will support the audit team in verifying policyholder information to ensure accurate premium calculations. You’ll gain hands-on experience in reviewing financial records, analyzing payroll and sales data, and learning how audits impact underwriting and risk assessment in the insurance industry.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Assist in collecting and reviewing financial documents such as payroll records, tax filings, and sales reports.
- Support auditors in verifying classification codes and exposure bases for various insurance policies.
- Help prepare audit reports and summaries for internal review.
- Communicate with policyholders to request documentation and clarify audit-related questions.
- Participate in data entry and validation tasks using audit software and Excel.
- Collaborate with underwriting and customer service teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Observe field audits and virtual audits to understand the full audit process.
- Complete Capstone project and presentation to senior management on a relevant Premium Audit topic or special project.
- Create and present a final presentation for management and leadership at the close of the internship program highlighting the work you accomplished throughout the internship.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or advanced degree program
- Degrees preferred: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
- Ability to commit to a full time 10-week internship program
- Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with audit or accounting software is a plus
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
- Interest in insurance operations and financial compliance
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
