Gallery Associate – The Hang Up Gallery
The Hang Up Gallery is seeking a detail-oriented, personable, and reliable Gallery Associate to join our team. This position is perfect for someone passionate about art who enjoys working in a creative, relaxed, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist visitors, providing information about current exhibitions and artists
- Handle sales transactions, process payments, and manage receipts
- Assist with artwork handling, installation, and display changes
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gallery space
- Answer phone calls, emails, and assist with scheduling
- Support social media updates and other promotional activities as needed
- Help with event setup, coordination, and cleanup
- Assist with framing intake: help customers select framing options, accurately record measurements and specifications, and ensure orders are documented correctly for production
Qualifications:
- Interest or experience with the arts (being an artist or having some level of art education) preferred
- Prior retail & customer service experience preferred but not required
- Framing experience is a plus, but training will be provided
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable with basic computer tasks and point-of-sale systems (training provided)
- Able to safely lift and move artwork as needed (up to 30 lbs)
- Comfort in heights is a comfort for us
Schedule & Compensation:
- Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm
- Saturday shifts available
- Occasional evenings and Saturdays for events and opening receptions
- Closed on Sundays!
