Role Description The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Honolulu, Hawaii. This position is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, verification of time and attendance records, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs. The Payroll Specialist will calculate and administer garnishments, manage payroll taxes, and coordinate with payroll service providers as needed. Day-to-day tasks include resolving payroll discrepancies, responding to employee payroll inquiries, maintaining payroll records, and adhering to federal, state, and local regulations. The role also supports process improvements, assists with audits, and collaborates with HR and Finance to ensure compliance and strong internal controls.



Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Payroll Processing and Payroll Administration.
  • Candidates should possess experience with Payroll Taxes and Payroll Services.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Garnishments and related compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems, and strong Excel skills.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills when working with employees and internal teams.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in a payroll role within a multi-state or government contracting environment is a plus.
