ROLE SUMMARY
As Sommelier, you will be the chief salesperson and ambassador for the beverage program with knowledge ranging from beer and wine to cocktails and spirits. You will be responsible for setting the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and excellent customer service. You are also responsible for ensuring the wines needed for the venue are ordered, received, stocked, made available in the POS system, and accounted for according to protocol on a weekly and monthly basis. The ideal candidate will possess a guest first attitude, strong commitment to service, excellent communication, and conduct their work in an organized manner.
DUTIES:
Maintain complete knowledge of wine list, and wine and food pairings.
Clean equipment, tools, and supplies for wine service and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance.
Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock.
Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverages for potential purchase.
Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc.
Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred.
Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions.
Perform other job-related duties as requested.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Certified accreditation from a recognized organization (Court of Master Sommelier / WSET) preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in high volume, elevated dining restaurant.
Must be 21 years of age.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be detail oriented and possess effective communication and written skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Must be a team player.
Self-motivated and performance driven.
Professional and courteous.
Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout the work shift.
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
