JOB DUTIES | What Exactly Will I Be Doing?

The Class A Delivery Driver role at The H.T. Hackney Co. involves safely and efficiently delivering grocery products to convenience stores across East Tennessee. Routes start early in the morning, using a day cab tractor with a refrigerated pup trailer for deliveries. Freight is unloaded with a hand truck or dolly directly into the store, with accuracy and timeliness being key. Strong people skills and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential for success in this position.

Driving for The H.T. Hackney Co. comes with great perks like set routes so you can get to know your customers, dedicated tractors with no slip seating, in-cab electronic logs and GPS, and no merchandising or sales duties. Trailers are loaded by warehouse staff, plus there’s on-site fueling and a repair shop. Best of all, you get to sleep in your own bed every night! Typical routes have 5–12 stops, 500–750 cubes of product, and average about 11 hours. We’re also excited to share that all fleet trailers now have automatic rear-opening doors, making your day safer and easier.

WORK SCHEDULE | M-F| Weekends Off

• Weekends off
• Start times vary but most routes dispatch between 3:30 AM – 5:30 AM
• Great schedule for families

POSITION REQUIREMENTS | The Must Haves

• Valid Class A CDL
• Be able to drive a manual Transmission
• Demonstrated safe driving history
• Ability to safely park and unload trailer using a hand truck / dolly
• Pleasant and helpful demeanor, must be a “people person”
• Motivated to work independently
• Like to be physically active at work
• Works well with others, likes to problem-solve
• Dependable, punctual and work as scheduled
• Reliable transportation to / from work
• Pass pre-employment DOT regulated drug screen & physical
• Must be 21 for consideration
