WHO WE ARE
Growing Place Chico is a 501(c)(3), faith-based (Jesus-centered), integrated mental health practice in Butte County. We serve Medi-Cal, sliding-scale, and private-pay clients through a whole-person model that takes the body, its nervous system, the relationships, the rhythms, and the soul of a person as seriously as the presenting symptoms.
Most counseling centers offer therapy. Not as many ask the deeper question about how the whole person (spirit, soul, and body) was actually designed to flourish. There's a concept in strategic thinking called Blue Ocean that names it well: ‘…the most meaningful work happens not where everyone else is competing, but in the space no one has thought to occupy yet…’. That's the water we swim in here at The Growing Place, Chico.
We are currently an eleven-person clinical team currently serving between 250-275 clients a month with a waiting list that doesn’t shrink. Our county runs depression and suicide rates close to double the California average. Our need is real. Your impact matters.
Beyond traditional talk therapy modalities, our clinicians have access to 700 square feet of dedicated movement, art, play, sound, and sensory space; a certified equine-assisted program; nutrition-informed care; EMDR and Brainspotting; and a team that meets together to learn and consult.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Therapists who already believe — instinctively and through their training — that healing happens through more than talk. Those who understand that connection, movement, nutrition, play, nature, and sleep aren’t ‘wellness extras’, they’re actually the nutrient dense soil for personal and familial healing, growth and transformation.
You’ll fit well if most of these are true:
- You hold an active California license (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD) — or you’re an associate (AMFT, APCC, ACSW) bringing clinical depth and maturity, not just hours.
- You’re EMDR-trained and experienced. Alternatively, EMDR-curious and open to certification (we cover most of the cost).
- You see experiential and somatic work as core, not optional — and you’d use a movement, sensory or sound and music space with an adult, not just a child.
- You’re forward-leaning. You can hold how the past has influenced a person while still helping them walk toward what’s next.
- You’re a team player who embraces the ‘us’ of our shared holistic identity and toolbox. You also like coffee or tea, consultation, and being genuinely known by colleagues.
- You resonate with our faith-based (Jesus-centered) identity — or you're a person of integrity who can work alongside a team that holds it.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
- Compensation: 65% of billable session rate for licensed clinicians, 50% for associates. Current rates: Medi-Cal $131/hr, sliding-scale cash-pay from $140/hr. Payment for every hour of session you provide.
- Health insurance contribution from day one ($150–$250/month based on caseload).
- Live Scan fingerprinting for licensure and supervision requirements.
- Up to 40 hours of paid sick leave at $60/hr.
- All HIPAA, BBS, and California-mandated trainings covered. EMDR certification provided ($500 therapist contribution).
- Weekly clinical supervision (associates), bi-monthly team connection, consultation and training (everyone).
- Your own furnished office in most cases. SimplePractice EHR. Cell phone reimbursement. Mileage and pre-approved expenses covered.
- Built-in referral flow — our waiting list runs 20–30. Your existing clients can transfer with you.
