Position Summary
We’re hiring an Operations / Crew Lead to help run day-to-day field operations and keep crews productive, safe, and on schedule. This role is hands-on in the field and includes leading crews, supporting scheduling/route execution, and helping drive efficiency—especially during the busy season.
Pay & Schedule
- $25–$28/hour (depending on experience)
- Full-time
- Year-round work (seasonal workload fluctuations)
What You’ll Do
Crew leadership & daily execution
- Lead a crew on maintenance and project work; set the pace and quality standard on-site
- Ensure crews are ready and leaving the shop within ~15 minutes of start time
- Communicate job order, start times, and special notes clearly to the team
Scheduling & route support
- Support daily/weekly scheduling and route execution during predictable seasons
- Assist with schedule adjustments during weather disruptions, emergencies, and last-minute changes
- Help prioritize urgent/high-value jobs and communicate changes to crews (and customers when needed)
Quality, shop standards & accountability
- Ensure weekly shop/field tasks are assigned and completed on time
- Hold the team accountable for end-of-day cleanup (trucks, trailers, shop) and proper tool/material storage
- Flag recurring issues and bring solutions to leadership
Equipment care & safety
- Perform and enforce daily/weekly equipment checks
- Track basic maintenance needs (blades, oil, filters, belts, tires, small repairs)
- Maintain safe work practices: PPE use, guards/shields in place, stop unsafe behavior immediately
Efficiency & unbillable time reduction
- Reduce wasted time at the shop, between jobs, and from unnecessary trips
- Help implement simple process improvements (pre-loading, staging areas, clear job packets)
- Track basic metrics (departure times, jobs completed vs. planned, notable time losses) on LMN routing ap
Hardscape & project support
- Support hardscape installs and landscape improvement projects
- Assist with project prep (materials/tools lists, crew instructions) and on-site coordination
- Help with material sourcing: ordering/pickup coordination, lead times, and ensuring materials are ready before crews roll out
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Proven experience leading a landscaping crew (maintenance and/or installs)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles/trucks
- Strong communication and leadership—can coach, correct, and keep the team moving
- Safety-first mindset and willingness to enforce standards
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable with checklists/basic documentation
Strongly Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Hardscape experience (pavers, retaining walls, drainage, grading, etc.)
- Experience improving route efficiency and reducing unbillable time
Success Looks Like
- Crews consistently roll out on time and stay productive throughout the day
- Schedules are executed smoothly and adjusted calmly when things change
- Equipment downtime is minimized and safety standards are enforced
- Quality stays high and shop/truck standards are maintained
- Unbillable time trends down over the season
