Banquet Houseperson
Location: The Groton Inn, Groton, MA
Hours: Part-time, schedule varies based on event calendar, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation: $17-$20 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Experience: None required; prior banquet or hospitality experience preferred
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist the Banquet Manager in preparing banquet and meeting rooms for events.
Set up and break down event spaces according to guest and event specifications, including moving and arranging tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and other equipment.
Ensure meeting rooms and ballrooms are properly supplied with water service, linens, and necessary materials.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in all event and storage areas.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure all event details are completed accurately and on schedule.
Comply with all cleanliness and safety standards as required by The Groton Inn, OSHA, and local health regulations.
Report any maintenance issues, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions promptly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift, move, and transport up to 100 pounds and push/pull carts up to 500 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
Must be vertically mobile and able to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and understand signage, instructions, and event orders.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities during busy event periods.
Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
