Duties
- Bathe and groom pets according to breed standards and client preferences.
- Use appropriate bathing techniques and products to ensure the health of the pet's skin and coat.
- Dry pets using towels or dryers while ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Inspect pets for any signs of skin issues, parasites, or other health concerns, reporting findings to the veterinarian or management.
- Maintain cleanliness of grooming areas, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist in handling pets during grooming sessions, ensuring they are calm and secure.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's needs.
Skills
- Experience in pet care or animal care, with a strong understanding of various breeds and their grooming requirements.
- Familiarity with kennel operations or experience as a veterinary technician is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or multiple pets.
- Proficient in animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during grooming sessions.
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in animal handling, particularly with dogs, is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their pets.
