We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused Bilingual Slitter Operator to join The Griff Network’s converting operations. The Slitter Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining slitter and rewinder equipment to convert master rolls of paper, film, foil, and other flexible materials into finished rolls that meet customer specifications and production requirements.

This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to manage blade placement, roll alignment, web tension, winding conditions, material handling, splicing, and finished-roll quality throughout each production run. The Slitter Operator will review work orders, prepare cores and packaging materials, load and unload rolls, complete machine setups and changeovers, inspect finished materials, document production activity, and identify or report equipment and quality concerns.

The ideal candidate has previous experience operating slitter, rewinder, converting, or other roll-to-roll production equipment and can independently run machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Direct slitting experience is strongly preferred.

The selected Slitter Operator will initially train on the day shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm before transitioning to the night shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and shut down slitter and rewinder equipment according to work orders, customer specifications, and established production procedures.
  • Review job requirements and verify the correct material, roll dimensions, core sizes, blade settings, packaging supplies, labels, and tooling before beginning production.
  • Complete pre-run preparation, including cutting cores, staging materials, gathering packaging supplies, threading the machine, and preparing the equipment for operation.
  • Position and adjust slitter blades, knives, spacers, shafts, web guides, tension controls, winding pressure, speed, and other machine settings to produce accurate finished rolls.
  • Load and unload master rolls, finished rolls, cores, shafts, and production materials using forklifts, hoists, and approved material-handling equipment.
  • Perform proper splicing techniques and monitor web tracking, alignment, tension, cutting, and winding conditions throughout each production run.
  • Inspect materials and finished rolls for correct width, length, diameter, winding quality, edge condition, contamination, wrinkles, telescoping, and other defects.
  • Use measuring devices accurately and make production adjustments to maintain product quality, reduce scrap, control waste, and meet customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine, mechanical, material, cutting, tracking, and winding issues while promptly reporting major equipment or maintenance concerns.
  • Perform routine operator-level maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Complete Epicor transactions and accurately record labor hours, material usage, production quantities, quality checks, scrap, downtime, and job completion information.
  • Safely operate a forklift, follow all company safety and quality procedures, participate in cross-training, operate additional converting equipment as needed, and complete other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • Profeciancy in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in manufacturing, production, converting, or industrial machine operation is preferred.
  • Previous experience setting up and operating slitter, rewinder, or other roll-to-roll converting equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with paper, film, foil, laminates, flexible packaging, coated materials, or other roll-based products is preferred.
  • Ability to set and adjust slitter blades, knives, spacers, shafts, web tension, winding pressure, machine speed, and alignment controls.
  • Knowledge of material threading, roll loading and unloading, core preparation, splicing techniques, and finished-roll handling.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, production instructions, customer specifications, safety procedures, and measuring devices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to identify material defects, cutting issues, winding problems, and nonconforming products.
  • Forklift experience is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain company-required forklift certification.
  • Dependable attendance, strong safety awareness, and the ability to operate equipment independently, complete basic production documentation, and cross-train on multiple machines.

What We Offer:
